The Cannes Film Festival has arguably the most glamourous red carpet you’ll see all year. Unlike American award shows, such as the Golden Globes or even the Oscars, there is no such thing as “too much” at Cannes. Maybe because it’s in Europe, the style stakes at Cannes are a little higher than usual — and the event always presents the perfect opportunity for stars to wear the biggest, most extravagant ball gowns possible and extra jewels. With a gorgeous backdrop of the French Riviera, the festival’s stunning location only adds to the scene’s glamour.
Here are our picks for the best dressed (so far!) at this year’s Cannes.
Blake has rocked too many jaw-dropping looks over the years at Cannes to count, and this year was no exception. At the festival to promote her role in Woody Allen’s Cafe Society, Blake has chosen a number of breathtaking gowns so far — notably this cerulean Atelier Versace, which she actually wore to the BFG premiere. Believe it or not, this high slit, off the shoulder gown is technically a maternity look — Blake’s expecting baby number 2!
Cannes Film Festival regular, Kristen Stewart, is also at the festival to promote a number of projects, including her role alongside Blake in Cafe Society. Yet Kristen’s style differs from her co-star in that while Blake can be trusted to bring the classic, Old Hollywood glamour, Kristen generally opts for more unusual looks that combine romantic with edgy, as seen with her sheer blouse and skirt combo here.
Kendall may not have her own film projects to promote at the festival, but that doesn’t mean she’s skimping in the style department. Kendall has already brought her fashion A-game to a number of red carpets, but this orange and purple Versace at a Magnum party definitely stands out.
Jessica is the type of classic, ethereal beauty that could make a paper bag look good. Here, Jessica wore an intricately embellished Alexander McQueen for the red carpet — almost channeling a flapper, Gatsby-esque character.
Kirsten is a Cannes jury member, meaning her style is especially on point this year. Here, she made a splash at a Chopard party in a shimmery blue and grey number, with makeup and earrings that perfectly complemented the look.
